FAQs about the Legacy Program Level One

FAQs about the Legacy Program Level One

if you are curious about the upcoming Legacy Program for Professional Bra-making, here are the frequently asked questions we have encountered:

  1. What are the Four Levels and what do they teach? Level One is FOUNDATIONS; you will learn sewing excellence, measuring, fitting, adaptive wear, and construction techniques all while making a bra to fit YOU. Level Two is SUPPORT, where you will learn the professional method to measure, fit and sew for clients, as well as costing and record keeping. Level Three is UPLIFT; is literally going back to the drafting board so you will learn all about drafting a bra from measurements as well as other methods of creating patterns. Level Four is PROJECTION; where you will learn the business of many different bra-making opportunities, from custom work, specializing in adaptive wear, to pattern making, and teaching.
  2. How long is the Legacy Program level One? 20 weeks with sessions stopped during December for Christmas and starting again in January. The first level ends in February.
  3. How many students are in this level One class? We are limiting the class to 20 students. We will not cancel a pro level program due to low enrollment. There are 7 of Beverly’s own Certified Teachers acting as Teaching Assistants during the sessions, so there will lots of individual help. Beverly will be in every class session and as many group sessions as possible.
  4. Is this a live class or recorded? The class sessions, which are every two weeks are recorded and edited to remove any lags in content. You have access for the full 20 weeks.
  5. Will there ever be a Professional program in-person? No. Beverly’s original Professional Program (2003-2015) ran Monday to Friday 9-5 for 9 full weeks. It was a full college credit program. That program still did not cover everything you are going to learn in the full 4 level legacy program! Now Beverly can teach through the magic of technology, with slides, video and provide close-up demo techniques that were not possible in her in-person classes.
  6. Will you still have in-person classes? No. Beverly will not be doing any in-person classes after Spring 2027 (which are sold out)
  7. How long will I have access to the classes/program material? You can watch the class videos for the full duration of the course. If you are registered for a level above, you can watch the videos in a level below until the whole 4-level Legacy Program finishes.
  8. Is there online help in between the modules? Certainly. There are online group sessions with the Teaching Assistants depending on time zones and topics of concern. In addition, we will have a private Facebook group that is only for Legacy Program Students.
  9. How many bras will I make in level 1? That depends on the time you have to devote to this venture. In the first level, the fitting we do is on you. Plus, we will make many cups for you to try on to determine which suits you and that you like. In the first level, we are totally devoted to starting on a solid foundation: sewing excellence, perfect fit and bra-making insider knowledge as well as adaptive wear.
  10. Is there a payment plan available? Yes, you can pay in 4 installments, or you can pay in full. You can even pay a deposit and pay the balance before the end of October. We have given a discount if you pay in full prior to the class.
  11. Is there a supply list for this class? Yes. Beverly is working on it and will put a supply list up on her website page as soon as it is ready.
  12. I don’t have access to bra-making supplies. Is there a kit available? Yes, one company we have contacted is willing to supply virtually all the materials and tools you will need for Level One. Some of the tools and equipment provided in the kit will last you the rest of your life. We are in the process of approaching other companies for their cooperation as well.
  13. I have never made a bra, but I want to learn. Is the legacy program for me? Unfortunately, no. the Legacy program focuses on learning to sew bras better, not just learning to sew a bra. You must have sewn a bra before the course so you are at least familiar with its basic construction.
  14. I am already sewing bras. I want to start on level 2. Is that possible? No. Level 1 is SO much more than learning to sew a bra that fits. It is literally the Foundation of all that is to come. You will learn to recognize and to sew professional sewing techniques just for example. Level 1 is about sewing excellence, fitting perfection and selected adaptive wear as well as bra-making insider knowledge, to provide you with the best foundation possible.
  15. How does an online class compare to an in-person class? An online course has the potential to teach far more on any one topic than it ever could in an in-person class because the technology allows slides, videos and online communication. That being said, there really is no comparison between the two because of the dynamics between students and an in-person teacher. One of the things about online classes is there is a greater expectation for a person to be self-driven to meet goals. That could work for some students, or against them.
  16. I don’t want to become a “professional”, so I don’t want to take all 4 levels. Is it possible to leave after the first, 2nd or 3rd levels of the Legacy Program? Yes, you can stop whenever you want. If you only want to use patterns and not learn drafting for example, don’t take level Three. If you only care about sewing for yourself, and you are not interested in sewing for clients, stop after Level One. Be aware, though, that the previous levels are a prerequisite for the rest. For example, you cannot take only level two or do level one, then level three.
  17. How many weeks in the whole first level? 20 weeks plus the graduation fashion show. Classes are released every two weeks, with multiple group sessions in between, depending on time zones. We have scheduled a start date of September 15, however be patient with us, as we are setting up an online classroom. We “may” have to delay the start if the classroom is not set up by that date. We want all systems to work the way they should!
  18. How many private coaching sessions with Beverly each level? There is a one hour private session with Beverly each level to discuss your professional goals, and your own personal business challenges. Beverly will be in the group sessions as much as possible to discuss any other issues you may have.
  19. How often are the Legacy Program group sessions? Are those led by Beverly or the TAs? There will be at least one group session in between the classes but very likely more than that because of the difference in time zones. We potentially have students from Hawaii as well as Australia! The number of group sessions and their timing will depend on that. You will join the one that has timing to suit you. The Teaching Assistants will lead their small groups with Beverly attending when timing permits. The TAs will share all fittings and questions with Beverly and the other TA’s so we are all in the loop and available to help.
  20. Approximately how many hours of homework per week should students plan for? We are estimating the early lessons to be no more than 1-2 hours per lesson. After that it could be 2-6 hours depending on how quickly you work and how many samples etc. you are willing to make. Some students make ALL the samples and keep them as reference; others do not.
  21. Will there be an opportunity to start in an upper level for students who have completed similar programs? No. Beverly’s Legacy Program Level One is SO much more than learning to sew a bra. The Legacy Program is teaching insider bra-making knowledge, adaptive wear and professional sewing excellence. We want our students to meet the requirements to graduate from the program, without any gaps in their education.
