LIZ THOMPSON

Liz is an experienced teacher with over 40 years of school, college and adult education classes in languages and, of course, sewing. She has been offering classes in garment sewing, quilting, bag making, smocking & heirloom sewing and lingerie sewing for the past 26 years in Canada, Japan and in the USA, and before that in South Africa. Since making her first bra with Beverly almost 20 years ago, she has become a passionate lingerie sewer who loves to share the skills she has learned with people who want to make their own comfortable & supportive bras.

Since Liz graduated from university way back when, she has always thrived on the “light bulb” moments in her classes. She finds it SO rewarding when her students “get it”, are thrilled with the skills they have mastered and continue to sew beautiful things. She really looks forward to seeing women smile with pride of their accomplishment when their bras fit comfortably and they look beautiful, supported and confident.

Liz’s lingerie drawers are filled with more bras and panties that any one woman should own. So she decided 2½ years ago to sew panties for ladies who need them more than she did as she so enjoyed sewing panties that she did not wish to stop! To date, hundreds of beautiful panties have been made together with a team of helpers & delivered to venues who assist vulnerable women in Vancouver, Nanaimo & Surrey, BC.

She currently specializes in teaching Lingerie sewing (bra & pantie construction) with personalized fittings. Liz also lovse teaching general sewing, garment sewing, quilting & bag making. She does not offer custom bra making except for a few close friends. She would much rather teach others to sew their own lingerie.

Areas serviced: Liz is located in Surrey, BC and is happy to teach anywhere in Vancouver as well as being willing to travel anywhere where a group of ladies require my expertise. She is also willing to teach online classes on Zoom and has a Zoom license which she uses regularly for classes and Lingerie Sewing Support group sessions.

Dates available: Is available weekdays and weekends. Liz travels extensively outside of Canada so bookings need to be scheduled well in advance to ensure my availability.

Other offerings: Yes, kits will be supplied with everything required including wires and my favourite lingerie thread. Liz has 4 sewing machines which can be made available at local classes. However, many people prefer to learn using their own sewing machines.

Machines familiar with: I am competent with most machines although very complex high end machines would require some student proficiency as we would not be able to spend time trying to figure out how to use the machine. Basic to Mid range machines are best.
