Swimwear for Every Body

In the Swimwear for Every Body class, you will do an intensive IN-PERSON 5-day Master class learning the design, draft, fit and construction of  swimwear, including the maillot, princess line suit, cupped suits , tankinis, two-piece suits and more!  You MUST already be sewing bras or swimwear before this class, in order to get the most of this advanced class. You are expected to know how to sew knits, but better if you can also sew swimwear or bras.

The Swimwear for Every Body course includes class notes and any pertinent pattern pieces you need such as generic sample size, a swimwear block and the bra cups. You will be making swimwear and also samples to take home. If you prefer to work with half-size samples only, that is absolutely fine! Use of the classroom sewing machines is included, and you can take your sewing machine to the hotel at night if you wish to sew there.

Styles of Swimwear for Every Body we will be learning- maillots, princess suits, tankinis, and two-piece suits. You will also learn the fitting of various body types and how to use swimwear fabrics that have differing amounts of stretch.

Learn to master materials, elastic types and the bra inserts – where to get them or how to make them yourself. Make a basic swimsuit frame to audition cup styles and use your favourite perfectly fitting bra pattern in it. Or, choose a sample size in the class to master more of the techniques. Start saving inspiration photos to bring to the Swimwear for Every Body class.

Bring to class a notebook, pencils, invisible (“magic”) clear tape, rulers, curved and straight, eraser, sewing supplies, swimwear fabric, wires, foam for cups, elastics and hardware findings to make at least 2-3 (or more) garments and/or samples to take home. It is helpful to bring swimwear you have attempted; whether you consider them a triumph or a tragedy.

Lodging

The only hotel in our town is the Days Inn, Oromocto. They do include a continental breakfast, free wifi and there is a Chinese restaurant on site. I offer free pick-up and drop-off each day from this hotel.
